An Open Letter to Brides

Dear Bride,

You’re getting married! Cue the confetti, pop the champagne, it’s happening! Maybe you’re high school sweethearts and have been anticipating this for a long time, or maybe it just came out of nowhere like it did for us. Whatever the scenario, in a blink of an eye you will be slipping rings on each other’s fingers and saying “I do”.

First off, we are so excited for you! Hold your hat, because that first year is crazy and goes by so quickly. Next thing you know, it’s been 5 years. Marriage is one of the craziest and rewarding adventures you will ever experience! It is filled with a whole lot of joy, a whole lot of vulnerability, and its fair share of middle of the night conversations. But before you get there, you have a wedding to plan.

Real talk: it can get crazy overrun with appointments and to do lists all while you’re still trying to have a life. 

Here’s what we think: Take time to enjoy your engagement. Live fully in those moments of I can’t believe I’m getting married! When your sweetheart pulls you in for a hug, hug him back tightly. When people ooh and ah over your ring, proudly tell them your engagement story. It’s worth telling.

When the opinions & suggestions start to come (and they will…), accept them graciously but kindly decline if they aren’t for you. It’s okay to do that! When you try on the dress take a twirl, because why the heck not?

But most of all, in this crazy whirlwind time of life, take time for one another. Invest in your relationship because while the wedding day is important, the marriage is even more so. You are more important than this wedding.

Give each other grace. Love each other more fiercely.  Work hard to become a team.

Together, you can build a family legacy. With hard work, dedication, and choosing each other every single day, your marriage can bring light & joy to this world. Together you can be the movers & shakers.

But as you prepare for your wedding day, know this: We are rooting for you. We are surrounding you with all the prayers & good vibes. We believe that that your love and family legacy, has the ability to impact this world in such a unique and powerful way.

Be brave in your marriage. Love wildly & freely. Be kind & give grace.
